He was born on July 24, 1993 in Edavanna, Malappurem, Kerala, India.KM Asif is popularly known as Mohammed Asif. KM Asif, popularly known as Mohammed Asif is an Indian cricketer. His journey into cricket wasn’t easy, as he grew up in a financially challenged family. Asif’s background is one of adversity, with his father working as a daily laborer and his mother being a homemaker. Additionally, his siblings have faced medical challenges, as his younger brother is intellectually disabled and his younger sister had a brain injury in her childhood. However, he has been fortunate to receive guidance from his mentor/coach, Biju George, former Indian cricketer and current fielding coach for Sunrisers Hyderabad and was sponsored by the Kerala Cricket Association, Trivandrum.

In 2016, he took a job in Dubai as a storekeeper but returned to India to pursue his passion for cricket. Asif attended fast-bowling trails across India and even tried out for the UAE national team at the ICC Academy, but was unfortunately rejected. Despite setbacks, Asif remains determined and worked hard to succeed in his cricket career.

Domestic career Of KM Asif 

Asif made his T20 debut against Goa in Zonal T20 League on January, 2018. In the two matches of the tournament, he is the joint-highest wicket taker with 5 wickets in his name.

Next month on February,2018,he made his List A debut against Himachal Pradesh in Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Asif made his First-Class debut against Delhi on December,2019.

IPL Career

Asif’s dedication and hard work paid off when he was selected by the Chennai Super Kings after performing well in the 2017-18, Vijay Hazare Trophy. In a competitive bidding fight with Mumbai Indians, he was bought for INR 40 Lakh (just double of his Base Price INR 20 Lakh) by Chennai Super Kings in 2018, IPL auction. He made his IPL debut against Delhi Daredevils after an injury to Deepak Chahar. He was again bought by CSK at his Base Price of INR 20 Lakh in the 2022, IPL auction. Currently Asif is playing for the Rajasthan Royals. He was bought by them in INR 30 Lakh which is his Base Price in 2023, IPL auction.

KM Asif Belongs to economical weaker section of the society, his father was daily wager and mother home maker. His family concerns were high due to which he has forced to move to UAE to start his earning but has love for cricket called him back. It is little surprising that a child who was fond of football slowly changed his interest and  became the star of cricket, He use to play  football when he was child and his interest changed with time due to his friend and he starting playing cricket.
