Early Life
Shubman Gill was born in a joint family to Lakhwinder Singh and Keart Gill. His Father was a farmer, who had a passion for cricket himself but could not make it as a career. Shubman was passionate about cricket since the age of three. His journey of becoming a professional cricketer was shaped by his father. Lakhwinder Singh saw the potential in his son’s cricketing ability from a young age and decided to make him a good cricketer. Shubman use to follow cricket from an early age and Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman was his inspiration.
Personal Life
Shubman Gill was born in a Jat family in Fazilka district of Punjab, India. He has one sibling (sister) Shahneel Gill. His father Lakhwinder Singh sacrificed a lot to make his son a good cricketer. He left behind his village and his income resources and shifted his family from Fazilka to Mohali where they were living in a rental house which was located nearby Punjab Cricket Association and IS Bindra Stadium.
He has done his education from Manav Mangal Smart School, Mohali, Punjab. Shubman Gill took coaching from his school for some years and then his father admitted him in Punjab Cricket academy. Shubman is emotionally attached to his village but to enhance his cricketing skills, he left behind everything.
Soon his hard work, dedication and passion was noticed by the cricketing world. Today, Shubman Gill is a well- known cricketer, for his remarkable performances in the domestic as well as the International cricket. Gill, as person is very superstitious. He always keeps a red handkerchief on his waist while batting. He likes travelling and swimming at leisure time.

Domestic Career
At the age of 11, Shubman was selected in the Under-16 Punjab cricket team, at District level.
He made his List A debut against Vidharbha cricket team in Vijay Hazare Trophy on Feb, 2017.
In 2017 only, he made his First-Class debut for Punjab in Ranji Trophy on Nov, 2017.
In Jan, 2018, Shubman Gill IPL auction was a fight between two-three IPL franchises and he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 1.8 crore.
He was selected in India C Team for the Deodhar Trophy on Oct, 2018.
He was named as the Captain of the India Blue team for Duleep Trophy in Aug, 2019.
In IPL 2022 auction, he was released by Kolkata Knight Riders and was taken by the newly formed Gujarat Titans franchise for INR 8 crore.
In Tata IPL 2023, Gill played for Gujarat Titans and won the Orange Cap for his fabulous 890 runs in 17 matches of the season. He was also awarded with the title ‘Gamechanger’ and Most Valuable Player’ in the Tata IPL 2023 season.
Shubman Gill is also among the three cricketers who scored more than 800 runs in a single season of the IPL.

International Career
In Feb 2017, Gill was named for the Under-19 team against England.
In Dec 2017, Shubman was made Vice Captain for the India team in Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2018. He had a successful tournament and was named the Player of the tournament. ICC named Shubman gill as the rising star of the squad for the tournament.
In Jan 2019, Gill made his One Day International (ODI) debut for India against New Zealand at Hamilton.
In Dec 2020, Shubman Gill made his Test debut against Australia, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and in the fourth Test, he scored a sublime 91 at the Gabba, helping India win the Test and eventually win the historic Test series Down Under.
In Jan 2023, Gill made his T20 International debut against Sri Lanka at Wankhede Stadium.

Gill made a record of scoring 330 runs in five games in his district-level debut for the Punjab Under-16 cricket team.
Gill shares the record of opening partnership with Nirmal Singh of 587 runs where he scored 351 runs in the Punjab Inter-District Under-16 tournament.
He scored an unbeaten double century for the Punjab Under-16 state debut in the Vijay Merchant Trophy.
Gill won the BCCI award for the Best Junior Cricketer for the consecutive years in 2013-14 and 2014-15.
