Ravi Chaudhary is the first Indian-American to serve as Assistant Secretary of US Air Force. He hails from Virginia where he presently resides with his wife Uma along with their two children.  

The United States Senate on Wednesday confirmed Indian-origin Ravi Chaudhary as the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Energy, Establishment and Environment.

Ravi Chaudhary until recently was responsible for the execution of Advanced Development and Research Programs in support of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Commercial Space transportation missions. While at the Department of Transportation, he also served as Executive Director of regions and center operations, where he oversaw the integration and support of aviation operations in nine regions.

Statement Issued For Ravi Chaudhary After Winning The Election

US Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) issued a statement shortly after Chaudhary won the election. In his statement, he said that as a native of Minneapolis, Chaudhary dreamed of serving our country as an Air Force pilot when he was growing up in Minnesota as the son of immigrant parents. .

Ravi Chaudhary has been dedicated to public service for more than two decades, serving as both an Air Force Officer and the Federal Aviation Administration.

He further said in his statement- ‘I have fought hard to push his nomination through the Senate because I believe that Dr Chaudhary is qualified and experienced for this important role. I look forward to working with him as soon as he is confirmed by the Senate.

Expansion of Ravi Chaudhary 

The US Senate on Wednesday made Ravi Chaudhary, an American citizen of Indian origin, the Assistant Secretary of the US Air Force. Ravi will be responsible for Energy, Establishment and Environment related matters in the Air Force. During the voting in the Senate, 65 votes were cast in favor of Chaudhary while 29 members voted against him. He has got one of the top civilian leadership positions in Patagon (US Army Headquarters). Chaudhary is the first Indian-American to become the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force. He is a resident of Minneapolis.

Long Served in Air Force by Ravi Chaudhary

Ravi Chaudhary served on active duty as a pilot in the US Air Force from 1993 to 2015. He has participated in combat in Afghanistan and Iraq. After retiring from the Air Force, Chaudhary worked for five years at the Federal Aviation Administration’s Commercial Space Office. Former President Obama appointed him to serve on the President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. In this role, he advised the President on efforts by the executive branch to improve veterans’ support for the AAPI community.

Earlier in his career he worked for Space Launch Operations for the Global Positioning System (GPS) and led the third stage and flight safety activities to ensure the full operational capability of the first GPS group. As a systems engineer, Chaudhary also supported NASA’s International Space Station security activities to ensure the safety of NASA astronauts.
